- Accuracy over long stretches, not just short messages.
- Punctuation you control, because automatic punctuation guesses wrong in dialogue and long sentences.
- Formatting by voice, for headings, lists and italics, if you draft directly in your document.

A workflow that works
- Outline first, even roughly. Dictating to a plan is much faster than dictating to a blank page.
- Dictate the whole scene or section without stopping to fix mistakes. Editing breaks the flow.
- Say punctuation for dialogue. "Quote" and "end quote" on Mac and iPhone, or "open quotes" and "close quotes" on Windows and in Word.
- Edit with the keyboard afterwards. Dictation is for drafting. Revision is still faster by hand for most people.
